Today Is The Day

Yes, the day has arrived and in just a couple of hours I will once again be off to Novi, Michigan to compete in the American Sewing Expo's Passion For Fashion contest. Pictured below is the garment I created last year. It's a little surreal to think that it is now on the cover of 1000 brochures. Just incredible and truly an honor!

If I'm honest though, I must admit that I'm nervous. I once had a 747 captain, who had thousands of flight hours under his belt tell me that "fear is a good thing. Worry when you aren't at least a little nervous. Complacency will kill you every time."  Yes, it is good to be a little nervous, used well, it can propel us forward. I can use any and all good thoughts that you can send my way. I will try to blog my process over the next few days, just so you can see how it's going. Thanks so much for all of the support so many of you send my way on a regular basis. No one moves forward all on their own, so any success I may have is in part due to you. Your encouragement is like fuel for my creative engine :)
Rhonda

  2. How EXCITING!!!! Is that you in that gorgeous outfit? I would be a nervous wreck, so I should, for sure, win, huh? Best wishes. I love to attend things like that, but hate to fly. Yikes! Guess I shouldn't say that to a pilot. Of course, my extreme dislike is due to the airports and the constant confusion, late or non-arrivals, crowds, sardine seating, etc.

    Hugs, Joy

  5. Rhonda, that pilot was a smart guy. A healthy dose of 'nervous', or concern if you will, keeps you on your toes! Have fun, I know you will do very well in the competition. Congrats on having your creation on the brochure, it's beautiful!

  9. It's got to be a little nerve wracking going into the event "defending your title", but just remember that you do this for the joy of it, and you are sharing your gift with the world, well at least with this corner of the world!

  12. Oh Rhonda! I wish you good luck with all my heart. I want to share something with you as I feel you are a kindred spirit. After 10 years of retirement, I've just realized a sewing dream. I've found three women who are as passionate about sewing as I am, and I've started teaching them. The response is overwhelmingly enthusiastic. and I'm so happy, it's crazy. They want me to take them as far as I can in our craft! Music to my ears!!!! I just thought I'd share my small success.
