Tie One On

In keeping with the Asian theme that I started with this morning (my trip to Milwaukee to see the exhibit from China), I thought I would post this fantastic belt/obi. I cannot take credit for the design and sadly, I don't know who to give credit to, but it's a great idea and worth sharing.
All you need are two coordinating men's ties, easy enough to find. Resale shops are great resources for ties (so is your husband's dresser drawer!).

Now it just doesn't get any simpler than this, lay one large pointed end over the other, and hand stitch it down.

Hand stitch down the back side, and you are finished!!!!!!!
I've made two for myself. I love these. What's funny is that I always receive compliments and no one realizes what they are until I tell them.

This one has Christmas trees on one of the ties. It really doesn't matter as when they are tied, the two ties just seem to blend into each other.
I like to twist the ties together in the front and then tie them in the back, but however you would like to wear it is up to you.

These make fantastic gifts for anyone who likes to wear belts. There is no second guessing a waist measurement. This belt is one size fits all.

  1. Love this! I have a zillion ties from another project and this would be ideal. Lovely.

  2. What a wonderful idea! Thank you so much for passing it on; I can't wait to try it out. Laura UK

  3. Clever indeed! And I have lots of Men's ties!

  4. I love this idea! I've made up one (with more to come) & linked back to you, with thanks for whoever came up with the idea in the first place :)

  5. My husband hasn't worn any of his ties in years (except for a funeral).... I think I'll have to raid his tie rack...

    1. Oh, have fun!!! I have a number of belts that I've made. You'll be surprised by how versatile they are. Enjoy!!!
