Gooey Good!

I thought we would take a break from the normal soup recipe today and do something totally sinful!! It does look sinful doesn't it??? Trust me, it is!
I saw this picture on Pinterest,
and I thought, "oh my goodness does that ever look good!" My husband loves a graham cracker crust, caramel and whipped cream, so I knew I could not miss with this recipe. You can find the original recipe here, http://www.brooklynlimestone.com/2010/08/recipe-banoffee-danger-pie.html I followed the recipe with just a minor change, I did not use an entire stick of butter in my graham cracker crust and I didn't add sugar to the crust. I was not missed.
All you need to make this pie is;
1 can of sweetened condensed milk
1 graham cracker crust, homemade or purchased
3 bananas
whipped cream or whipped topping
It's important that you follow the recipe and boil the sweetened condensed milk for 2 1/2 hours. Be sure to keep the can immersed in the boiling water. Until I read the recipe, I had forgotten all about doing this, but my grandmother would do this when I was a child.
Make your graham cracker crust as you wish. Be sure to bake it as directed in your recipe. Or you can go the easy route and just by a prepared crust :)
Slice up 3 bananas into the crust.
Pour the caramelized sweetened condensed milk over the bananas, cover with whipped cream and allow to sit in the refrigerator for at least a few hours before serving.
And Happy Sunday!!

  1. I think I just gained 5 lbs just looking at that photo!

  2. Oh, Rhonda, the recipe looks delicious, but I have to share my caramel making experience. I was told to make caramel with the sweetened condensed milk the way you have in the recipe, so I put the can in to simmer. Apparently my stove didn't understand "simmer," because the can exploded and we had caramel all over the entire kitchen. It was so bad that we had to have a contractor come in and sand down the ceiling and repaint. My husband's only comment after we spent hours scrubbing the cupboards with hot water was, "How much does caramel cost in the grocery store already made?"

    1. Oh my goodness, what a nightmare!! I'm wondering if the can wasn't always submerged. I know that it is important to keep the can covered with water. I'm so sorry this happened to you.

  3. Are the bananas there to assuage our guilt? : )

    1. If it has fruit, it has to be healthy.....right?!! ;)

  4. Its 3 am in the morning and I am catching up on my blog reading...oh my I am making this tomorrow morning or should I say in a coupleof hours.....thanks for posting
