Well, at least it's still Thursday in America :)
I came across this cute raglan sleeve t-shirt pattern from On The Cutting Room Floor and decided to give it a try.
My finished t-shirt. I'm very happy with it. I used a sweater knit for the main body and a stretch velvet for the contrast. As you can see, I gave the top some shape along the sides. Just a matter of pinching it in at the waist. The band was left off of the bottom. I felt it gave the top a more casual look and took away from the overall look of the top.
The style is great for just about anyone. It's quite easy to put together. There is an instruction sheet, but I didn't use it.
You can find the pattern HERE. On The Pattern Room Floor has a number of free patterns that you might want to take a look at. There's a couple that I think I will be giving a try. Just click on Sewing at the top of the web page and you will see a link to the patterns.
Your version is very pretty! The underarms look a bit low though - is that an issue?
ReplyDeleteI think it must be a bit of an illusion as the underarms aren't at all low. When I took up the sides, I also took out fabric under the arm as well as the sleeve as my arms are rather thin.
DeleteThis is beautiful. That fabric is to die for and your version looks fantastic. The waist shaping makes a lot of difference. xx
ReplyDeleteThaks! I had to fussy cut the fabric to get the patterns in just the right place. Not the best use of the yardage, but, oh well ;)
DeleteYour fabric choice pushes this garment beyond "t-shirt" to "elegantly casual". I love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks! The sweater knit actually has clear payettes that catch the light.
DeleteWhat a beautiful print! and a cute pattern. I was thinking that you might be in Puyallup this weekend.
ReplyDeleteNot this year. My girlfriend who lives in Seattle in Thiland. To go and not see her would just not be as fun. I love her house. She has a little Danish wood burning stove in the living room and at night, since I'm always cold, she puts me to bed with a fire burning. I even dress in front of the stove!! We hit the fish market and cook and we also eat at some great restaurants. So in short, she spoils me :) Maybe next year.
DeleteOh,now that IS special!! Can I go with you next time?????
DeleteThis fabric is absolutely stunning! I never get to find such beautiful jersey here in Paris. Bravo!

You've used the perfect fabric design for your version of the pattern (of course). Luv it. Thanks for sharing the gold.
ReplyDeleteHi, I need advice. If this pattern prints out 1/16" - 2/16" short, is this a big concern? I can't get my print out to be exact. I also lost the very bottom of the neckband. Any tips? Thanks
ReplyDeleteIf the pattern doesn't measure out correctly, it will probably be a problem. I am not the best one to give computer and printing advice. I still belong in the remedial class ;) What I usually do whenever I have a question, or can't make it work is head straight to the copy shop and let them print it out for me. Here in Chicago I use FedX for my printing needs and I have found them to be extremely helpful.
DeleteThank you! So kind of you to respond. Appreciate it
DeleteYou are most welcome :) Good Luck!!
DeleteI love your artistry at work. This interpretation is a great lesson on how to alter and adjust to create clothing that fits your body.
ReplyDeleteRhonda this looks so you, very elegant. Thank you for sharing this going to give I a whirl. Was already for spring...then winter stopped back by so this would be perfect to end the winter weather with. I can see this in short sleeves too.
ReplyDeleteFirst time to visit your blog and I love this. The blouse is beautiful and you could style it so many ways. Great job!
ReplyDeleteThanks Pam :)
DeleteIs it ok to ask where you got this fabric? It's fabulous!
ReplyDeleteSure, I got it at JoAnn Fabrics.
