I had this post ready to go yesterday, but I was waiting for
Frabjous Couture to put up her Me Made Monday post. So rather than continue to wait, I thought I would go ahead with my post.
I'm sure you remember this crazy picture :)
The normal way to wear the top.
And the remake I did along with the tutorial that you can find
here.
I actually wore this garment yesterday, so not only is it me made, but it was worn on Monday. The pants are self drafted. They look like they are pulling a bit in the front. They really don't. I think it's just the way I'm standing. The fabric is a pinstripe denim. The top has been fun. The collar can be played with and worn in lots of different ways. I've folded the collar over so that the gray doesn't show which looks nice too. This has turned into a real go to top. I've worn it with a pair of walking shorts, skirts as well as the pants.
And my shoes :), along with the feet of my Gracie. She ran in just as I snapped the picture. I love playing with patterns like wearing a pair of pinstripe pants with a lace covered shoe. Rather fun.
I'm going to be back a little later today with a post on drafting pants. It will coincide with the Clover pants sew along at Sew News. Hopefully you'll find the drafting posts fun and informative.
Bravo! Well done. I love the mixture of patterns as well.
ReplyDeleteLovely top and the gray is my favorite. Those shoes are wickedly fierce.
ReplyDeleteThanks Shelia :)
DeleteYou know, those shoes sat in the box for about a year before I finally broke them out. I don't know why as they work with so many things.
What a great outfit and those shoes! This is so ladylike. We don't usually see you in subdued neutrals like this and they look wonderful on you.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bunny! I love to wear gray especially, but I always feel that it washes me out a bit.
DeleteWhat a great pant outfit! Oh, and I rather like Gracie's barefoot look ;)
ReplyDeleteOh Gracie is such a hoot ;) She was my little abused rescue. When we got her she was starving, her hair was in horrible shape and she had a big cyst on her side. Thankfully everything was taken care of with love, and food :) She wanted me to play ball. Ball is a spelled word in our house!
DeleteWhat a treasure she must be! We have to spell "GO" around here. lol
DeleteThanks so much for the great tutorial, Rhonda. This is a must-make for me. Are the two tops connected at only the neckline and the armhole? If I were to add sleeves, would they then be attached at the bottom of the sleeves instead of the armhole? Sorry for the questions, but I can't wait to stop mind sewing and actually make the top.
ReplyDeleteHi Donna! The 2 tops are attached only at the armhole with the binding. If you want to add sleeves, sandwich the armhole of the sleeve between the 2 tops. Let me know if you would like to see a tutorial as I wouldn't mind making the top with sleeves.
DeleteHow generous of you,Rhonda. I think I get it, but I'd love to see a tutorial with sleeves.
DeleteI would enjoy having one with sleeves, so I will put it on my list :)
DeleteI have to admit the number two top is my favourite - it is on my shameless copy list! (only I will never get around to making it - but if I did I would reference you :) ). I love the shoes.
ReplyDeleteNot shameless copy, but the best compliment :) I hope you do give it a try. I think it's your style and will work especially well with your cute skirts. Besides that, your sliding into your summer now.
DeleteLove the green top!
ReplyDeleteThanks Andrea :)
