Meet Bert!

Yesterday I shared with you that I would be flying today. A friend of mine recently told me, "Rhonda, I worry about you. Whenever I hear  that a plane has crashed, I wait to hear if the pilot was male or female. If it's a female, I call your husband."  This is a woman who is very generous with her time, but is not very forthcoming about her emotions. She paid me a huge compliment, she cares. What a gift.
So yes, today I flew. A glorious day, bright blue skies, smooth skies, no turbulence, and a precious dog to boot. When I landed at Michigan City, Indiana, I was met by Joyce, the lady below. She had a camera in her hands and tears in her eyes.
What a joy it was for me to take Bert out of the cage and deliver this lovely dog to her. Such a wonderful life the two will have together.
Do you recognize the jacket I'm wearing? Yes, it's the Paper Bag Jacket I showed you last week. See, I really do wear these things! I still owe you a picture of me in the Airplane Top I posted yesterday. Sorry about that.
And a wonderful friend came along for the ride. She's a fellow sewing friend and a pilot in the making! I was amazed by how well Sue was able to keep track of where we were, spot airports as well as traffic. I even had her putting in frequencies before the flight was over. It was her first time in a small airplane.
Tonight as I close my eyes, what will I dream about?
Power baby, power!!!!
Actually, not at all, I'm far too tired!!
Hope you have had a glorious day as well.

  2. Your jacket looks great, but I really want to know what kind of dog Bert is. ha! He looks a lot like our dog and we rescued her and don't know 100% what breed she is. Not that it matters. We love her no matter what. It's a really nice thing you do - delivering dogs to loving homes.

    1. Wish I could help out, but I have no idea what tpe of dog Bert is. Although I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't a pure bred dog. Everything seemed a little too perfect. He does have a rather severe heart murmur though, that was why it was difficult to find a good home for him. Pure bred dogs can issues like heart problems. I hope yours is as perfect as she can be. Doesn't sound like she is spoiled in the least;)

  3. It's so great that you were able to unite such a cute dog with such a loving owner. Thanks for sharing the pic. That jacket looks great on you. And now I have to admit my roaring shoe fetish and ask what is on your feet. Shoes? Boots? They look fantastic in the photo.

    1. You're not the only one with a thing for shoes. They are actually boots. I've had them forever. I keep putting new soles on them and polishing them the best I can. Eventually they are going to give up the ghost I'm afraid.

    1. Before I started my trip back to Michigan City, I called Bert's new mom and told her that I was tempted to just go on home with hm. He really is such a cute dog.

  5. You're so stylin' in this jacket! Love your shoes/boots, too.
How wonderful, that you were able to help Bert find a forever home. He looks a lot like our dog - a Havanese - but not quite the same. He looks a lot bigger. Havanese usually max out at 15 lbs. Maybe he has some Bichon or Maltese in him. That would explain the coat, at least.
Whatever his heritage, I'm sure he'll make a wonderful companion for Joyce.
