Me Made Mondays

Me Made Mondays kinda took a back seat to the holidays. So sorry about that. My intentions are to continue on with the post, but I've decided that I will do my best to do a Me Made post each week, but not feel pressured to do so either. When I do a Me Made post, I will always add a link up, so you are more than welcome to link up. After all, it is fun to share what we've made.
You may remember the cami I made a while back for Thrifty Thursday. The cami is the free pattern from Iconic Patterns. Fabulous pattern by the way.
Once I finished the cami, I realized that it would make a great bathing suit top, so I used the free Rosy Lady Shorts pattern from Cloth Habit and made bottoms.
My husband took me to the health club yesterday to soak in the hot tub and spend a little time in the sauna and I wore my suit. Not a sexy suit, but comfortable and practical.
Notice that my hair is tied up. A little story. We were visiting with some friends a few years back who had a hot tub. My hair was longer at the time. I did not tie my hair up, but just allowed it to hang in the water. Some time later, I got out and went to the bathroom to get ready for bed. When my hair fell forward, I started screaming as the bottom 6 inches was as green as grass. I jumped in the shower hoping that I could wash it out. No such luck. The next morning we were all off to morning Mass and me with my green hair. Keep in mind that this was prior to it being fashionable to have green hair. I over heard a little girl whisper to her mom, "that woman has green hair!" All her mother could do was say, "Shhhhh." I went home and had it all cut off.
If you would like a practical bathing suit, give the free patterns a try. I think you'll like it.

If you would like to link up a garment that you made and wore this past week, just click on the Inlinkz button.

  1. Your suit looks really great Rhonda, as do you. Your hair story is very funny but must have been awful for you at the time. I seem to recall my hairdresser telling a similar tale and saying that ketchup counteracts the chemical reaction that causes hair to go green. Don't know if it would work - it sounds very messy!

    1. Thanks Kim. I was in that hot tub for quite a while, so I doubt that anything would have worked at that point.

  2. What a cute swimsuit! You look great wearing it! (You blondes do have problems with green hair! My former MIL's hair turned green when she was treating it for lice, picked up from the kiddies.)

    1. OMG!!! Horror of horrors! It would be bad enough to have lice, but then green hair on top of it. My head itches just thinking about it ;)

    1. Thanks Mary Ellen :) Since that experience, I always tie my hair up. I think that our friend had the chemicals off in his hot tub, but I am not about to take a chance!!!

    1. So happy to have you on board :) Thanks for the compliment. I never in my wildest imagination would have thought that I would post a picture of me in a swimsuit.

  5. I love the attention to detail on your suit. Centering the pink pattern, the edging, and the solid panels on the bottoms...all add up to a lovely make! And the fit looks brilliant. I've got quite a bit of lycra waiting to be sewn. I may have to check out these free patterns too!

  6. Great suit, thanks for reposting :)

I remember that happening to my mom's hair in the 70's. LOL. I heard it was from the chlorine but there is actually science behind it. Here is the link. http://chemistry.about.com/od/howthingsworkfaqs/f/greenhair.htm
