Sew News blog. In order to prepare for the trip, I had to work awfully hard and as it always goes, a few glitches get thrown into the bucket. One thing that happened that I didn't tell you about was that I tripped over my dog in the dark and cracked my thumb near the knuckle. Until you have an issue, you just don't realize how important something as small as a thumb can be. I managed to figure out how to use the lower portion of my thumb, for the most part. From time to time I would forget and the sharp pain would remind me that I shouldn't do that:) The only issue I really had was sewing on buttons. Last Thursday night I talked to Mari of http://disparatedisciplines.com/. She told me that she had some free time on Saturday and that if I needed any help, she would be happy to come by. Asking for help is something that is very difficult for me, but I realized that I REALLY needed her help and sent out an S.O.S. email. She came by on Saturday morning and sewed on 16 buttons for me. Such a gift. So not only does she have some great patterns, she is a lovely and generous person as well. Thank you Mari!!!
As my husband drove me to the airport on Sunday, the weather looked gruesome. During the course of the afternoon, both Chicago airports were closed to all incoming and out going traffic. Sitting in the airport and watching the storm blow in was incredible. Needless to say, my flight was delayed by a lot. Rather than arriving in Denver at 3 in the afternoon, I arrived at 10. For a while, it looked as though I might not get out at all. My make it happen spirit went into play and I asked my husband if we could drive over night to Denver. He came back with a firm "NO!" and told me that if I shouldn't be flying, we shouldn't be driving. All is well that ends well as I made it!!!
The next day was tons of work and tons of fun. We did 15 videos. Whew!!! Now you can see why I passed out that evening. I was truly exhausted, but it was a great experience. I'll return the latter part of January to do more. Now that I know what to expect, I think it will not be as exhausting. I'm home and I've had a good night's rest, so I'm ready to hit it once again.
Switching gears, I always love it when someone takes a chance on something I've shared. You must check out the post by http://www.noile.net/2013/11/chiffon-wrap/ She made this piece,
I have lots of pillowcases to post, lots and lots :) I'll share some with you this afternoon. Will we make a 1000?!! Stay tuned to find out.
Hope your week is going well. Wishing the best of the best for today!!
