Dec The Halls

Today was the Musicians Club of Women's holiday party. We meet on the third Monday of each month, but of course December is just a little more special. Since I'm the social chairman, it's my responsibility to do a lot of things, but the most fun aspect of the job is to decorate the tables for the luncheon. Prior to the luncheon is a concert. I have to remain out in the vestibule, just in case someone needs something, so while the concert was taking place, I took a few pictures of one of the center pieces I did for the tables. Sadly, I didn't get a picture of the tables, but regardless, I thought they turned out especially pretty, so I thought that I would share what I did.  

I started with potted poinsettias. I then took sheet music that I no longer wanted to keep, rolled up the sheets and then glued in a skewer.

The bow is just regular Christmas ribbon with a gold edging. I tied in the sheet music by cutting a strip of fabric with a music motif, tied the bow, added a stick pin and I was finished.
Here's how I made the music funnels.
Take a sheet of music, any music will work, it doesn't need to be Christmas music. Begin rolling one corner on a diagonal.

 Once the piece is rolled up, place a piece of tape to hold the end in place.

 I also added a piece of tape at the top for security.

 The funnel is finished.

Since I wanted the funnels to have a trumpet like feel to them, I needed to add an extender so that they would come up out of the plant.  Skewers for kabobs work beautifully! I put a squirt of hot glue in the small tip end of the funnel,

and then place the blunt end of a skewer inside the funnel. I held it for just a moment to allow the glue to begin to cool down and dry.

Make as many as you think you would like to have and decorate away! The music funnels would look pretty in just about any arrangement. And the best part is that they are VERY fast and easy to make!!
