Do you ever have days when it seems that no matter what, nothing seems to want to go your way? That was my day yesterday. I left my studio with piles of fabric on the floor and me in a state of frustration. Oh well, it's a new day and I think I've worked out my problem. I had wanted to share another group of pillowcases that I received, but again, I got caught up in my frustration and the day got away from me. These are from Linda of http://seamswell.blogspot.com/. Actually, this is Linda's third contribution to the project. I think she has managed to use up all of her cotton stash!!!
It's a lovely day here in Chicago. We awoke to temperatures in the low 60's, heaven, and there is no wind so the pillowcases hang nice and straight. Although, I rather enjoy seeing them move with the wind! Here's a close up of some of the pretty and whimsical pieces that Linda made.Bambi!!
Crazy dogs.
A little of bit of the southwest and Texas.
Summer clothes on a clothesline.
This one is very simple in nature, but it struck such lovely memories for me. My grandmother had a summer housecoat made out of seersucker fabric that was similar to this. She kept it for years and I can remember how excited I was when I could finally fit into it. By then it had been laundered so much that it was so very soft. It felt as though I was enveloped in her love. Thank you Linda for the beautiful memory and especially for being so generous with this project.
I have a folder that is full of the address labels and all the cards that I have received, sweetly tucked inside your parcels. For now, it helps me to remember everyone who has contributed, and once the pillowcases are delivered, I'll be able to give the hospital a list of names. This week I received a very interesting phone call. It was preliminary in nature. It seems that our project is catching some attention that I never would have expected. Next month I'll be talking to someone a little more in depth about this potential possibility. So as soon as I know more, I'll share it with all of you. Trust me, it is extremely exciting!
Our count as of this week stands at 320. The goal is to reach 900, one month's worth of pillowcases and I am determined to make the goal. So if you would like to make even just one pillowcase, it would be greatly appreciated. Just email me and let me know, sewbussted@yahoo.com. If by chance you are new to my blog and you don't know what the project is all about, here is the first post post that I did which explains the project, http://rhondabuss.blogspot.com/2013/03/pay-it-forward-can-you-help.html. The end date has been extended, like I said, I am determined to hit the 900 mark one way or another!! Here is a link to the simplified instructions that I did, http://www.rhondabuss.blogspot.com/2013/06/the-simplified-pillowcase-instructions.html
And finally, when I went out this morning to photograph Linda's pillowcases, I looked up and saw that my apple tree is full of apples. As long as we don't have a huge storm that knocks them off, this will be my first big harvest. I can eat homemade applesauce by the bucket full!!! I'm not counting my chickens yet, well, maybe a little :-)
Have a wonderful day!
Rhonda
Nice looking apples! Which variety are they?
ReplyDeleteI have no idea!!!!!!!
DeleteThey don't grow with a little label on them like they do in the grocery store?
DeleteJK of course ;-)
You are too funny!! The tree was just a tiny little tree when we bought our home. I should take some of the leaves and an apple up to the botanical gardens and find out what the variety is.
DeleteVery sweet! You definitely will get some from me. I take advantage of the extended deadlines, but that's a bad habit I need to change. Mine will never be as perfect as these....love them all.
ReplyDeleteI disagree with you Robyn. Your cases will be every bit as lovely because they come from your heart :)
DeleteLove them all, such beautiful colors!
ReplyDeleteThis is another Texas girl Becki. She lives in a small town near Dallas.
DeleteI really enjoyed meeting you!! I'm planning to be back in Galveston some time near the end of October. Maybe we can get together then :)
I feel real excitement every time you write a post about this topic, my heart feels joy shared with you, dear Rhonda!
ReplyDeleteLovely pillow cases... the prints are so adorable. That's so cool to have an apple tree. We have a cherry tree, but the birds always get first dibbs.
ReplyDeleteI have the same problem with my cherry tree. I'm thinking about getting some netting to protect the tree once the cherries start to come in.
