A few weeks back, I posted the the Resort 2016 collection from Andrew GN. I thought it was absolutely gorgeous, many of you did not like the somber look on the model's face. I've learned to look past the model and just look at the clothes, but in all honesty, that can be a little difficult at times, especially when they are so emaciated. But that's a conversation for another day.
Melwyk of Magpie Makery also liked the collection and sent me a link to the Spring 2016 collection. Thanks Melwyk!! Once again, I liked it enough to share it with all of you. Hope you are able to gleen a little inspiration from the collection.
The collection includes some great topstitiching,
wonderful prints,
Lovely embroideries,
This jacket was shown twice, once in a denim that I didn't care for, but I really like the white version.
There are some repeats from the Resort 2016 collection, like this coat, but I just love it!
This little jacket would make for a great leather project.
I am in love with the zippered pockets on this dress. Be sure to blow up the picture and take a closer look.
This dress is so simple, but so very pretty.
I especially liked the double sleeve.
This time around, I was able to find a video of the Spring fashion show. It's only about 10 minutes long, worth a little break.
If you would like to take a look at the rest of the collection, you can find it HERE on the WWD website. I think you'll find some ideas that will translate to projects for any time of the year.
Enjoy!
Rhonda
I like this line and would have been all over it in my previous life! BTW, I agree with you about just looking at the clothes and ignoring the models. If I didn't I would never see that a style would work for a plus size woman, as well as size the designer envisioned.
ReplyDeleteAnd to be honest for a woman of just about any size. I think that's why we so appreciate seeing models of various sizes. Maybe one day designers will adopt the idea of letting us see how the clothes will work for all of us. Maybe ;) Glad you enjoyed the collection.
DeleteI once read an acceptable explanation of why models look so neutral: because they walk quite a distance and all the time pictures are taken, it is just not natural to smile all the way. I would think they could have a more neutral expression rather than negative, so it might be an extra thing of the designer, I don't know.
ReplyDeleteYou're right. Some designers feel that if the model shows any type of emotion, it will take away from the clothes.
DeleteI have to look past all the dark colours that show up in fall/winter collections. I much prefer tints and brighter colours even in the winter. Or maybe I should say especially in the winter, LOL.
ReplyDeleteI love the white jacket and all the inspiration it is sending me.
That white jacket says Sue all over it!!!!
DeleteI like this collection, will check the whole thing later. :) In the question of the models, I'd rather see them smiling, I swear that it wouldn't steal my focus from the clothes. :) (Or did I fail as a fashion designer, when I chose the most smiling, tiny little model girl first, when we worked on our exam-show at the fashion school? Anyway, I like all the pictures that were taken of her, smiling and shining in my creations. :) )
ReplyDeleteA happy smile warms the soul :)
