Sunday Night Reflections

A sweet poem to welcome winter and the delight of seeing a cardinal in the snow.

IN PRAISE OF THE CARDINAL

Your scarlet plummage
Against the snow

Reminds us of the warmth

Of a fireside glow
How proudly you grasp
Each fragile branch
With your crown of red
Atop your head
You keenly scan the ground below
Morsels of winter's gifts
You eagerly stow
Regal feathered friend are you
Symbol of hearty survivors
Your song ever renews
You brighten our winters
In beauteous array
We carry your tune happily
Wherever you stay.

    1. I too love cardinals. They have been quite busy in my garden lately. I just love seeing them as they seem so magical.
