Monday Morning Inspiration

The Modes Royale pattern catalogues will be coming to an end by the end of January. I hope you've enjoyed the stroll through the patterns of the late 1940's and early 1950's. As I said in one post, most of us do not want to look like we just stepped out of that era, but incorporating some of the details into our designs can add a lovely touch.
Today's catalogue is from the Fall/Winter 1954/54 collection. Lots of suits in this issue.

Take a look at the dress on the right above. The dart is accented by the arrow.

I look exactly like the woman on the left when I walk my dog!!! Try never! Just shorten the skirt and I would wear the suit on the right just as it is.

Beautiful pocket detail on both of the coats above.

Have a wonderful week everyone!
I'm hoping to have my picture problem worked out today. Keeping my fingers crossed!
Rhonda

  1. ---Rhonda.....how well I remember the exaggerated cuffs and incredibly full skirts. Loved the styles, though I was pretty young but I was interested in fashion "way back then". You are fortunate to have these catalogs - this will make me look through antiques stores and malls for the same. Keep warm.......Lydia

    1. You can print these and at least have a copy. It's getting more and more difficult to find the old magazines and catalogues, but they are out there. They are such fun to go through, so I hope you find piles and piles!!

    1. I just love the way the jacket tapers over the hips.
