Sunday Night Reflections

There is no reason for you to be doing anything that you hate. No reason good enough,
no explanation worthy enough
that you will want to hear after the sun has set
on your youth,
your beauty,
and your opportunities
as to why you continued to do things you hated day in and day out.

  1. So much truth spoken in that quote, Rhonda. Life is way too short to spend time doing things we hate to do. Once in a while is OK and some things must be done (like changing poopy diapers), when we have choices, it's always better to choose what makes us happy! Have a wonderful week!

    1. But I think that even poopy diapers is something we may not love to do, but because we love the child, it's something we want to do for them :) I had a conversation with a friend earlier this week who told me that she had spent the summer doing alterations, and then said, "I hate doing alterations!" So I asked why, why, was she spending her precious time doing something she hated? It wasn't about the money, it was because she didn't want to say no. I think that women all over the world relate to this, and it's time we give ourselves permission to say no.

    2. I totally agree, Rhonda. We have to give ourselves permission. I read another quote recently that said, "Saying no is a gift". When we do that, it is gifting us with the time we need to do something more joyful, more worthy of our time, and it also opens up that position we denied to someone else who may be better suited.

  2. Good morning Rhonda,
Thank you for sharing that quote. I currently am making a change in employer, and the more I move forward I see signs that it is the right thing to do. I think we tend to get stuck in a rut and fear of the unknown stops us from saying yes to something new.

  4. Amen, amen, amen, AAAAAA-MEN! Last year I quit my job to come home and work on what I *love.* It was terrifying beyond comprehension and wildly liberating at the same time. Realizing that I don't have time to live someone else's life and that I am best occupied while living mine was settling and satisfying and I am so glad I finally did it. Three cheers for your good quotations, I appreciate you!
