Sunday Night Reflections

To get rid of what you no longer need is neither
wasteful
or shameful.

  1. Yes indeed. I am trying to work through my stuff following the guidance in her book. Hard work but a positive experience.

    1. It really is hard work! But amazing how much better you feel when a stack of things goes out of the house.

  2. I read her book. I thought I was doing a good job with my decluttering project, but I just tackled the closet and got rid of about a third more. I think I need to be more strict with myself about "what sparks joy." It's really difficult to get rid of clothes that I've made (and that turned out well), but that I don't wear. I guess I should thank them for the pleasure they gave me in making them and let them move on. :)

    1. I think she needs a special chapter just for people like us who sew. We put so much time, care and attention into our projects and getting rid of them is especially difficult, whether they really serve a purpose or not. I took a huge step with my shoes a few weeks back. Surprisingly, the shoes were easier than my clothes! I'm looking at it as a process rather than a once and done kind of a thing.

  3. I have finished reading the book too and so far have cleaned my wardrobe. I didn't get rid of everything that didn't spark joy as I need some basics to wear with my other garments that did spark joy. I think you need to be a bit more practical. But on a very positive side, after storing items in the method she suggests, I can store a lot more in a smaller space. And everything is visible. And my draws look like a boutique. And I am much better at putting things away! Hope to tackle the kitchen this weekend.
