Taping at Sew News

Earlier this month I shared with you that I was supposed to be at the Sew News offices in Denver to start taping the new sew alongs for the upcoming year. Well, that didn't happend since I came down with the flu, lost my voice and ended up with a huge fever blister on my lip. Thankfully, we were able to reschedule and the taping for the first 3 sew alongs was done yesterday. Here's a few pictures.
Before the start of the video, they have me go over just what I planned to do so the camera guy has an idea of where I will be going. That is what's happening in this first picture.
Below, in the background you see the slip that we will be doing in the first sew along. The mic is being attached to my top.
The first sew along will be the Sew Chic Valentine Slip. A lovely pattern. In an upcoming post you'll see that I have made more than one. I wear slips on a regular basis and I really like this pattern.
A shot from the magazine. The lace trim was applied by hand and then I beaded it with pearls.
Sew News is celebrating their 35th year! Quite an accomplishment.
I'm working on a few surprises that I hope to announce next week.
In the meantime, thank you to all of you for making last year's sew alongs so successful, as they asked me back!!!! It wouldn't have happened had you not watched. THANK YOU!!!!!!

  4. This looks like such fun - yes work - but fun work. I remember buying one of the first SEW NEWS magazines when it was larger and on newsprint, I think. That's been 35 years ago, I guess. lol Glad you are feeling better.

  5. I am excited! I have made some camisoles, but nothing nearly as beautiful as your beaded slip. Something else I can do with my beads! Love it. You look gorgeous, as always!

  6. That is a lovely slip. I love these Sew Chic patterns, very classy. This promises to be a great sew along.
I, too, remember reading Sew News when it was in newspaper format. It was a very in depth periodical and the only thing like that at the time. I couldn't wait for each issue and one of the prettiest things I ever sewed was inspired by an article from that time period in Sew News.

  11. I intend to sew along. I have not worn slips in a while, but I see no reason not to start, especially when I can make a beautiful, luxurious one. Thank you for everything you contribute to the sewing community. I love your posts.

  12. Rhonda, so glad you are feeling better and were able to tape your segments. When I saw on the Sew Chic blog that you were doing the slip sew-a-long, I got very excited. I too wear slips often but have never made my own. I'll be joining in for sure.

  15. Well, this is all pretty exciting stuff Rhonda! From the photos, you look super relaxed and comfortable in the setting. I REALLY should start sewing slips for myself. I can never get a good fit in ready to wear, and although I forgo them when I have a lined dress on, there are certainly times that I need one.
