Sunday Morning Chatter

Happy Sunday Everyone! I hope your day is off to a lovely start. I spent yesterday, at least most of it with my husband. We took a lovely drive up into Wisconsin, so a day off from the blog.
On Friday, I had a little shopping that I had to do and I was so very pleased to find exactly what I needed and then...more than I needed ;), but that can be fabric shopping! It's either feast or famine! So I thought I would give you a little show and tell this morning.
It's pretty easy to guess that this is for a lingerie project, two separate garments in case you are wondering. It'll be a while before I can share the finished garments, so this one is a stay tuned project. Don't you just hate it when you are watching a program, you're totally engrossed and then they say, "to be continued?" But I want to know now!!!!
This did not photograph well, the lighter side of the fabric is a pale green and the backside is a lovely gray. I like how the gray has a polka dot effect.
I'm going to make the Seamster Avocado Hoodie out of this fabric. I tested the pattern for Mari and I really liked it. I can't believe I'm saying this, but...fall is just around the corner and I am going to be looking for something warm to wear. Wasn't I JUST talking about how cold it was???
The piece above is going to be a dress. I will be able to show this to you much sooner than the lace pieces above. This fabric did not photograph all that well either. In person, it is so pretty. The red accents are very rich and the black has the look of velvet without being velvet.
If you take a look at some of my Monday Morning Inspiration posts, you know that I have been infatuated with black gingham. This has a lovely crosswise stretch and will be perfect for the Colette Patterns Clover Slim Pants sew along that will begin September 2nd. I think I am going to add some red piping.
By the way, if you would like a chance to win a copy of the Sew News magazine, there's still time, so leave a comment here.
One last show and tell item. I always enjoy a knitting project over the summer. Yes, I know I'm crazy, I should probably be knitting in the winter and not the summer. I do knit over the winter, but I enjoy doing something over the summer and having it to wear once the temps get cool enough to wear it. The front, back and a partial sleeve are finished. I'm planning to do a horizontal band of the cables around the bottom of the sweater. I didn't fall far from my Celtic roots as I do love cables ;) You may remember this sweater coat I made a few years ago.
That's it for my show and tell. Enjoy your Sunday!

  2. A beautiful selection, Rhonda. The middle lace is exquisite! Your knitting is as lovely as your sewing. I think that Fall is coming too soon!! By the way, I think I forgot to tell you, Lauren chose to stay pretty close to home! She will be at her dad's and my Alma Mater, which has grown by leaps in bounds since we were students there. We are ecstatic!!

  6. You can knit TOO!!!? There is NO END to your talent! I am TRYING to learn how to knit, and I am just awful at it. I think I'll have to stick with simple crochet. That coat you made is AMAZING! I would love to see you in it.
    Hugs, Joy
