Happy Monday Everyone!!!
Last week, my sister-in-law sent me a link that she thought I would enjoy. She was right! Actually, I was a little blown away. This young lady painted her prom gown. So incredible. The story has gone a little viral, so you may have seen the story, but in the off chance that you haven't, I thought I would share it. Here's a link to her story, http://ktar.com/22/1735819/Mesa-high-school-senior-hand-paints-prom-dress
The gown is actually a wedding gown that she and her mother found in a resale shop. Talk about repurposing!
Such a beautiful gown. I think it needs to find a home in a museum.
So I decided to look around a bit for some other hand painted beauties.
The dress above is rather fun. The detail is below.
I love the vintage hand painted Mexican skirts, in fact, I have a couple!
Here's a picture that shows how they were painted.
This is a basic denim skirt that was hand painted.
Such a pretty corset.
Float like a butterfly!
When I found these dresses, I thought they were enchanting. The artist is really quite talented. You can see more of her work here in her Etsy shop, https://www.etsy.com/shop/ArmeniaOnSilk?ref=listing-shop-header-item-count She also does scarves and women's clothing
A field of poppies on silk.
I thought this was rather fun.. Sadly, the link to the site is gone
If only time was not an issue!!!! At least it's fun to look :)
Have a wonderful week and be sure to do at least a little something creative to nourish your soul.
Rhonda
They are all beautiful! The Van Gogh dress gives me chills every time I see it! I think it should go on tour---somewhere close to me! I'd love to see it in person. Love the others you found, too. As you say----time, etc.
ReplyDeleteA road tour is a great idea!! Did you check out the Etsy store of the lady who painted the little girl's silk dresses? She is so very talented.
DeleteLOVE IT!!! Huge kudos to this artist. We are in awe of her talent. Thanks, Rhonda, for sharing this.
ReplyDeleteSuch talent!!! Maybe an article in Vogue???? ;)
DeleteThank you for these. I'm inspired. I did a google image search for the last one and came up with this:

Thanks for the info. I took a look and found some great things. Thanks again!
DeleteBeautiful and inspiring. My sister and I used to paint clothing. Time to get out the airbrush again!
ReplyDeleteYour posts are such a pleasure. Thank you for the creative inspiration that you provide!
ReplyDelete:) You've made my day!! Thank you.
DeleteI am blown away by the girls who painted the prom dresses talent. This is fabulous. The photo of the painted circle skirt was also pretty cool. I think that it must take a lot of skill to paint things which are so intricate onto fabric. I predict that we will be seeing a lot of copies on the net in the near future. I know that I am really inspired by their creativity. xx
ReplyDeleteI didn't mention this in the post, but notice how tasteful the dress is. And I'm sure that the other girls wore dresses that were anything but tasteful. I remember one of my exchange students bring home a catalog of prom dresses that shocked me to no end. Let's just say that you would be hard pressed to call them dresses.
DeleteThat young woman' s gown is spectacular. This sort of creativity from the next generation just warms my heart.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you Bunny. There is hope!!!! And she deserves every bit of attention that she receives :)
DeleteThe homage to Vincent Van Gogh's gown is spectacular, but I cant help feeling that it is wearing her. My personal favourite is the simple spots with illustrated bodice.
