Monday Morning Inspiration/Do You Wear Red?

The week is beginning on a quiet note. There's a soft rain falling, gray skies, the feeling of a hush over the city...but then I am not commuting to a job. I'm sure there are so many who are stuck in traffic, arriving to their office drenched, and beginning the week on a rather sour note. So all the more I feel fortunate to begin the day with you, quietly and peacefully :)

When I opened my email this morning, there was a Bloglovin sponsored post about the 10 must need red sweaters for the fall/winter season. I didn't like any of them, but not the point. The article did peek my curiosity though about the color red. Do you like to wear the color red? For me, sometimes I do, and sometimes I don't.

The color red attracts attention more than any other color. It signifies a pioneering spirit and leadership qualities, promoting ambition and determination. The color also represents a strong will and can give confidence to those who are shy.

The negative aspects of the color are that it also represents, anger(seeing red), aggression, and danger.

In eastern cultures, red represents good luck and was traditionally worn at marriage ceremonies. While the Indian culture views red as the color of purity, it too is traditionally worn in wedding garments.

Since October is the month of the pant, I thought we could take a look at a few ways to wear red pants.

A great way to tone down the color is to pair it with neutrals.

Pair them with a neutral plaid and a dark layer.

Pair a great pair of red slacks with a denim shirt.

Red jeans always look great paired with denim and animal print.

Black and white is always cute with a pair of red pants. Take note of the black trim around the hem of Audrey Hepburn's pants.

I especially love red paired with turquoise. Tone it down with a navy jacket.

If you are feeling a little bolder, go for a lavender mix.

And then, if you feel the need to slay the world, go for it in red from top to bottom!

Don't be afraid to add a little color to your wardrobe and have some fun!

Once last little tidbit...
Red also enhances human metabolism.
Nice to know :)

Have a great week!

  1. I like to wear red but probably wouldn't do it on bottoms like this. Maybe a red print in a skirt but I'm not too much into bright colored pants. Strangly, I see a trend in my wardrobe for patterned bottoms (especially skirts) with sold tops. Most of the time, people naturally gravitate the other way.

Think I'll go find some red fabric to make something. :)

  2. What gorgeous outfits. I like red but don't wear it often. It is a bit too bold for me. I do have some maroon and burgundy trousers which I love. Thank you for the great inspiration. The red and camel is very chic. Xx

  3. I definitely wear red on my lower half all the time! I made a red top a couple years ago - very pretty - never wore it. It was just too...Too. LOL!

  4. I don't have anything in my wardrobe in red. Is it the new colour of the year? Or next year? Might start seeing a lot more around in the shops.

  5. As I scrolled down, I thought I NEED red pants. And then I saw Audrey....oh my gosh that trim at the hemline is so cute. I love the concept.

AND...I can hardly believe it, but I'm just realizing that I have red pants, LOL. I blogged about them at the end of August. If you're wondering...YES, I love them!

  6. I love red! There's a decent sized red section in my closet. But it has to be a blue-red without a hint of orange. I wore red pants when I was younger and trimmer; not sure I'd be brave enough for that now. Don't know if it would fit in my style comfort zone.

  7. I too love red ! I tend to wear it as a bottom , more than a top . Great inspiration

  8. I love red. It’s my favorite color. After reading this post I think I need a pair of red pants.

  9. I like to wear red, but I love to wear burgundy. It's not quite as "out there" but seems to draw attention, too.

  10. I like red, but I think you would have to be very extrovert to wear bright red pants. I have some red culottes still not worn - maybe next year!

  11. I love red..... and orange. I particularly enjoy wearing red and other brights in winter when so many people retreat into dull colours.
These pants/trousers look really good. The colour mixes you show are great - I love the red and purple tones together.

  12. I do not wear red. The intensity has always felt like too much for my fair coloring, and as such it's a color I've never quite felt like myself in. I would however go for some of these options. The pants paired with camel are really pretty--a nice Burberry-esque scarf could tie them together perfectly. I am going to do the little red dress project this year on IG. Renata has been sending me pictures of women with similar coloring to me for months, and she convinced me that I've been unfair to red (it's been since 1997 that I owned a red dress). I have a vermillion stretch crepe on order and a lovely vintage style in mind.

  13. Red is my favorite color. I may have to make a pair of red pants. Good post.

  14. Amazing how stylishly current the Audrey Hepburn outfit is. And it's over 60 years old! I wouldn't be surprised to see it on a (very chic) mom picking up her kids from a (very fashionable) school. Such good bones.

I love red, especially red shoes! I find myself feeling down, just out of sorts if I don't have a pair of red shoes in my closet or on my feet. I have not tried red pants yet. They were a thing a few years ago, but I weighed too much for red pants at the time. But now that I've lost 25 lbs... I just might have to try some.

As always, thank you for the inspiration!

  15. I like this post which reminded me I have a red pair of pants from Talbots that I have not worn yet. I love red, the warm or neutral reds. I have worn red from top to bottom and DH said it was just too much. I remember Nancy Reagan wearing a red suit and she called it her "power suit". I had two red suits and decided to wear them when I was in a meeting that was going to require some negotiations. Mentally I felt prepared cause I had on my red power suit. :-)

  16. No problem here. I LOVE colored pants. Have several red pair. Just wish I had red shoes to go with them.
