Monday Morning Inspiration

The first week of October, a new week, and a new month. A time to look back, and a time to look forward :)

For last week's Monday Morning Inspiration post, the movie The Dressmaker inspired me to take a look at what sewing has meant, and continues to mean to so many of us. The threads of sewing go so much deeper than just through a piece of cloth. This past week, so many of you reached out to me. Our relationship began because of a shared love, but grows deeper with every stitch of life. Thank you. I have not responded to every message, but please know that each and every one has been read and cherished.

This week, I thought I would take one last look at the costumes from The Dressmaker. A few of you who live in Australia shared that there has actually been a exhibition of the costumes. I can only hope that they will come to America. So for those of us who have not been lucky enough to view the clothes in person, I thought we would take a look. Be sure to take a few minutes and watch the video at the end. It's just a little over 3 minutes long, and well worth the time.

Enjoy :)

Look closely at the dress below. It's a true golfing dress! Check out the loops that hold the tees.

Below is the coat....

That was worn over the dress below.

I want to leave you today with this;

Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; remember that what you have now was once among the things you only hoped for.
Epicurus

Wishing you all the loveliest October.
Rhonda

  1. I was born in 1944 and in my High-School years got to wear age appropriate prom dresses of the 1950's, and then dresses, and self-made suits, of the 60's, but was too young during the 19950's to wear those lovely, more mature clothes. Sadly to say, I never did have the figure for them either!!!

  2. These are beautiful costumes, and I can only echo your hope that the actual costumes leave Australia and travel - I would certainly like to see them in the UK. Thank you for sharing these pictures.

  6. Great post, Rhonda. I can't wait to see it---no release dates at all in France. :( I just hope it will still be in theatres when I return to the States. This seems like a big screen movie.

    1. The first time you see the movie, it really should be on a big screen. Enjoy your time in France!

    1. Wow, I 'm shocked that it's not playing somewhere in the Houston area. Well, the good thing is that it will be available at Redbox eventually :)

  9. You missed a particularly beautiful pale blue dress worn by woman in the beaded evening gown. Very proud of this fun, homegrown Aussie film.
