Monday Morning Inspiration/Antonio Berardi

The second week of January begins with super cold temps and snow. Hey, it's winter! On the bright side, I get to bundle up in pretty coats, wrap my neck in my hand knit scarves, and pop on a warm hat. There's always a silver lining :)
Over the weekend, I came across the picture below and loved it. I love the juxtaposition of the very structured shape mixed with the scalloped edges and the hardware down the back. After a quick search, I found out that this is a piece from the Pre-Fall Collection by Antonio Berardi. His designs are truly all his own, but there's a little hint of one of my all time favorite designers, Claude Montana.
If you haven't seen this collection, grab a cup of coffee and take a few minutes to look closely at the pieces, as there's a lot of detail that's worth seeing.
Like this coat, what an amazing piece! The sleeves are very interesting and I love how the darts radiate and form the yoke detail
Not for everyone, but check out the asymmetrical aspect of the peplum. The pants remind me so much of a skirt pattern that Claude Montana did for Vogue Patterns.
Another jacket with an interesting peplum.
Not sure if the following 2 jackets are the same, but I like the off the shoulder aspect and the design lines.

Love the sleeve detail.
Now this is a very interesting jumpsuit. Love the dart detail and check out the pleats on the legs. Beautiful!
Not such a fan of the racer top under the jacket, but I do like the pleated sleeve detail on the sleeves.
Another interesting sleeve. I also like the use of the navy blue velvet stripe down the side of the pants.
This jacket is almost  armor like with the shoulder detail, the hardware down the side and back as well as the color. Here again, the scallops give it a soft touch.
The collection ends with a lot of hardware, but still a soft touch. Love the drape and the bit a peek-a-boo aspect.
These were just a few of my favorite pieces, you can see more HERE at 10magazine.com
I always enjoy adding a link to the fashion show of collections I really enjoy. Sadly, I wasn't able to find one of this collection.
On another note, could we possibly get Vogue Patterns to collaborate with Antonio Berardi and publish a few patterns? I know I would love it!!!
Happy Monday!
Rhonda

  1. Ooh, as a Montana fan (made up a lot of them in the 80s, still wear those and made up more now) I thank you. Such a present!
In return, go to the Seattle Opera's website, and check out the videos for the upcoming Marriage of Figaro. The denim upcycling is great stuff, the details are almost as sweet as these.

  2. I do love that long jacket at the end. It really does have an armor feel to it but the scallops are just enough to make it soft and wearable. Those shoulder pleats are my favorite part though, I love those types of details. Simple, yet fun. Thank you for sharing, this is a great collection!

  5. Such a great collection. Wouldn't that be cool if Vogue would collaborate so that we'd have some interesting new patterns? I love the last dress with the hardware and draping. OMG.

    1. Oh how I miss the days when there were so many Vigie patterns that I longed to have. I think if they recruited Antonio, well, I would be so happy!
