Monday Morning Inspiration

Two years ago I had the opportunity to take a class with Shingo Sato. By far, this was the most inspirational and informative class I have ever taken. Shingo is a delightful man who has a great sense of humor and absolutely loves what he does. Even more though, he wants to pass his knowledge on to anyone who is willing to listen.
The pieces seem labor intensive
 and incredibly difficult to execute,
but in reality, if you just follow along, you will find that really anyone can create these incredible pieces.
Take a look at this video. It's only 5 minutes long. You will walk away amazed if you have not seen this before.

Here is another video of pieces done in Shingo's master class. Watch closely. There is a jacket with a spider done to look think it is in a web! Just incredible.

Here are a few pieces designed by Ester Cellucci. She has not taken an in person class with Shingo, only a class on the web and this is what she has created.

As you can see, the concept of Transformational Reconstruction can be taken anywhere that the mind can imagine.
You can see more of Ester's designs as well as what inspires her on her Pinterest page here, http://pinterest.com/estercellucci/. I must warn you though that the inspiration on her pages can really draw you in and you'll loose all track of time!!!

If you think that you would like to give transformational reconstruction a try, you can find the book here, http://www.centerforpatterndesign.com/products/transformational-reconstruction. The book comes with two teaching CD's. The information found on these CD's cannot be found on Youtube.  This book will give you the opportunity to take an entire seminar with Shingo without ever leaving your home. A great opportunity.
Well, I'm inspired!! I hope you are too.
Have a wonderful week.
Rhonda

  2. I have seen shots of his work somewhere before.

It may seem futuristic and out of this world, but I have found some of the wilder designs from Pattern Magic books actually used in modern and stylish clothes. I love the push the boundaries of wearable clothing with design details.

Anything goes in fashion these days. I love how you have taken what you learn and makes things applicable to todays clothes. Your collars and sleeves are truly inspirational, thanks for sharing some of where your inspiration and design knowledge come from.

  12. omg! i came across your post, and i'm with no words, thanks so much from heart for all beautiful words you said to my designs! why didn't we meet before? you're right, Shingo is an amazing and incredible person. I knew his youtube channel in 2010-11 and i challenged myself to include two of his tecniques in my graduate collection( fashion design in florence) because i was( and i am) really obessessed by origami. After graduation i found him on FB so i asked his friendship. With my surprise he added me and shared all my collection photos on his page. Few months later i had the privilege to be invited by him for his first class online, completely free! But believe me, it was hard, in order to not been eliminated, i made some sacrifices because we had deadlines to submit our works. I have the prize to arrive in the end of the course, and to do another masterclass, platform final in this current year. Thanks to Shingo, I've really improved my skills, but i don't want only to do replicates of his designs,He gives me the opportunity to be express myself in new extraordinary ways! Please, stay in touch Rhonda, big hug!
