The show aired from 1947 to 1960, so I never saw the show during its original production.Actually, I never watched the reruns because I hated that creepy little wooden doll. The show always started with Buffalo Bob asking, "Hey kids, do you know what time it is? It's Howdy Doody time!!!!" By the way, I also think that clowns are pretty creepy as well. But enough about my phobias. I have two ladies to introduce you to that will knock your socks off.
First up is Ann Vidovic of http://didyoureallysewthat.blogspot.com/. To my pleasant surprise, she also lives in Chicago! Here's a little about her, "My goal is to share my knowledge of fashion design, garment construction, fashion trends, and business management to educate and inspire others to sew."
Take a look at some of her lovely creations.
A beautiful Donna Karan Dress.
A Marfy jacket that is currently in production. Love the fabric and take note of the back drop. So pretty.
Check out this pencil skirt. Look closely and you'll see just how beautifully the stripes on the welt pockets match the stripes on the skirt.A few pictures of Christmas presents that Ann made. I need to get on this woman's Christmas list!
Great little embellishment idea on this t-shirt.
And I just had to include this apron. So simply and yet so elegant. Look at the back. I love it!
Ann is truly wonderful and I know you'll get lots of inspiration from her blog posts. I already have!
Next up is Jen of http://diaryofamadmama.wordpress.com/. This is one creative and inventive mad mama!! I thought her description was rather cute, "My favorite topics are refashion, cooking, and living a happy life. I may not be Martha Stewart, but a mama can dream!"
First up is a coat that Jen purchased at a thrift store. She loves to do her "fabric" shopping at thrift stores.
The original coat,
and Jen's super cute reinterpretation.
A 49 cent purchase,
that made a perfect matching combo.
Now what mama doesn't have a basket full of holy jeans? (That's holes not "Holy"!, although I'm sure a few prayers have been said over some children's clothes, and they probably started with, "Oh Lord"!!!)
Here's what she did for her son,
and her daughter's pants. They went from hole filled pants to oh so cute. And if I'm not mistaken, she even recruited her children in the process. Great idea.
This is one mama that can take a dollar and really stretch it. You must checkout her blog.
I told you that these ladies were incredible! So until next week...sew on!!!!
Have a wonderful day.
Rhonda

You are most welcome. So very happy to have you as one of my followers!
ReplyDeleteGreat sites! I can see you becoming fast friends with Did You Really Sew That. Did you see her KaylaKennington jacket? It is to die for! I tried on that jacket at an Expo a long time ago, and bought the pattern.
ReplyDeleteI am going to go take another look as I missed that jacket.
DeleteJust saw it. Beautiful! I had never heard of Kayla Kennington.
DeleteRhonda, you're likely to meet up with Ann of Did You Really Sew That, sooner rather than later - she's an ASDP member, and belongs to the Chicago Chapter too!
DeleteI remember watching Howdy Doody on Sat mornings. Loved Buffalo Bob, Howdy and Clara Belle. Fun reminder--your pic of them--thanks.
ReplyDeleteRE: right serger needle. The thread is not breaking at all. It just comes unthreaded.
ReplyDeleteYou are right, they are absolutely stunning! I love these posts because they give me other blogs to gossip, yay!
