The Wednesday Showcase

Good Morning and welcome to Wednesday, the best day of the week!!!! Well, it's one of my favorite days anyway!! Today I am showcasing two lovely ladies that you probably know, but in the off chance that you don't, you are truly in for a treat.
First up is KayY of  http://kaythesewinglawyer.blogspot.com/. She's a lawyer by day and seamstress extraordinaire by night. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING she does is done with an eye on perfection. Case in point, take a look at this swimsuit,
As you can see, Kay has a perfect body, but when she originally began her journey of making swimsuits, the fit wasn't at all what she would want. That did not deter her in the least bit. She worked on the suit pattern until the result was what you see above. Beautiful!
A recent project was the above Vogue skirt pattern. Go and check out her posts so you can see all that she did to get the perfect fit that you see below. Again, beautiful!
The jacket pictured below was made a while back, but I loved seeing the process and the final result, well, perfect!
I loved this little dress, perfect fit and the color looks so lovely on Kay. I really like the shoes too!!!
She has become an avid knitter. Her socks are to die for!
And finally, as I scrolled through her blog, I found this picture and it was immediately my favorite. Check out the earphones! She is hard at work on her French jacket.
Back in 2011, Kay and her blog were featured in the American Sewing Guild's newsletter. As I went through all the posts that I have done for The Wednesday Showcase, I found that the post I did on Kay was done in the early days before the Wednesday Showcase came into being. So, I just had to revisit her blog and hopefully introduce her to a few new people as she is such an inspiration.

Next up is another heavy hitter in the blog world, http://fashionsfromthepast.blogspot.com/. In the off chance that you have not heard about Debi, you are once again in for a treat. She lives in Edinburgh, Scotland. Rather than an American in Paris, she's an American in Scotland. She is in love with vintage fashion. Here's a  little about Debi in her own words, "I'm a quirky and fun expatriate who now calls Scotland home. I started sewing at the same time that I started this blog (back in November 2009). I am in LOVE with vintage patterns from all eras but especially the 30s, 40s and 50s. I am inspired by fashions from the past and hope to create some timely pieces for myself."
Here's a look at a few of the lovely vintage pieces that she has made along with some lovely shots of Scotland scenery.

This past year Debi embarked on a new passion. I'll allow her to explain it in her own words,
"In 2012, I embarked on my biggest project to date, co-founding a fabric social enterprise called Weaving Destination. The social enterprise bit is that all of the fabric is ethically made and all profits go to support an indigenous women's weaving collective in Assam, BTC, India. This collective is important because it provides financial independence, support services and sustainable employment for women that have been victims of trafficking, that are living with HIV/AIDS or that are female migrant returnees. Weaving Destination is really the culmination of my two passions: working to address the root causes of violence against women and children and being creative through sewing! We were very lucky to have received the Melting Pot's Social Innovation Incubator Award for 2012-2013."
Isn't this just incredible?!! You can find their Etsy store here, http://www.etsy.com/shop/WeavingDestination
Please check out the store. The scarves are really beautiful. Remember, there are a lot of things you can do with a rectangle ;-)

Another Wednesday Showcase comes to an end. I don't know about you, but I am very inspired, two women who are following their passions and an endeavour to help more women follow theirs.
Have a wonderful day!
