Monday Morning Inspiration

Spring has sprung and with it, all sorts of excuses to wear a hat. There are garden parties, luncheons, weddings, graduations and then there was the most famous of all hat wearing events that happened just this past weekend, The Kentucky Derby.
The hats pictured below are from a recent fund raising event in New York. Held at Central Park’s Conservatory Garden and sponsored by Tiffany & Co., the Frederick Law Olmsted Awards brings out the ladies and their over the top hats.

Now THIS is a hat. I love it.

What I find interesting is how you get a glimpse of the wearers personality when you see the hat that they chose for any given occasion. Some are truly over the top while others are demure and refined.
In honor of The Kentucky Derby, I've included a few hats from a milliner I have fallen in love with. She is Maggie Mae and her hats are true confection.

Each one so very lovely.
A nod to My Fair Lady.

Maggie Mae with one of her creations. If you would like to see more of her work, you can find her website here. When you have a little time, take a tour of her website. She is a wonderful designer and I just love the fact that there are milliners who are still alive and well and most of all, prospering.
Have a wonderful week.

  1. I love that hats are coming back in fashion and that they are so fun and whimsical. I credit the British royal family, and Aretha Franklin. I see more of my friends wearing them, but mostly to weddings or church, at least so far.
